North & South Beach

Kick back in the sand at one of South Haven’s gorgeous public beaches. Both beaches have public restrooms, showers, and concessions. North Beach also has volleyball posts set up on the north end of the beach. You can rent a net from the concessions, bring your own, or join in on a game.
Be sure to stay up to date on the water conditions and safety precautions here. The City of South Haven recently enacted fines for entering the water during red flag conditions so it is important to stay alert both for your safety and your wallet. The flags are also displayed across North and South Beach.

Hours:
Both North and South Beach close at 11pm and the piers are open 24/7, water conditions permitting.

Hiking & Biking Trails

South Haven boasts two major trails for both hiking and biking: the Kal-Haven Trail and the Van-Buren State Park Trail.
The Kal-Haven Trail is a 34-mile, all-seasons trail extending from Kalamazoo, all the way to the coast of Lake Michigan right here in South Haven. This trail is loved by bike-packers and hikers alike and can serve as a fun detour off of the North Country Trail. You can view the map here.
The Van Buren State Park Trail is a 14 mile long paved trail that runs along a former railroad from South Haven to Hartford, MI. This trail starts in downtown South Haven and passes through Van Buren State Park, so for a shorter trip, we recommend biking or rollerblading to the state park and back. You can view the map here.
