Hostels are like hotels only with sharing. Shared rooms, shared bathrooms, shared common spaces, shared activities, and shared memories. Think dorm life in college, but without having to sneak your alcohol.
You can read more about hostels and what you can expect at them here.
Yes! Our facilities are perfect for young adult groups like fraternities, sororities, birthday outings, and more. Please contact us using this form here.
We currently only have dorm rooms located inside our buildings. If you are interested in a private space, we offer safari tents with beds and options for camping with your own tent or vehicle.
Our max length of stay is 2 weeks. Exceptions may be made for individuals who are working at one of South Haven’s hospitality businesses, are students, or who are interested in participating in a volunteer work exchange. If you’re interested in applying for a longer-term stay you can apply here.
We offer rustic, outdoor showers for free for camping guests. An indoor shower pass can be purchased for $5 per person, per shower and used between 1pm and 4pm.
Our rates vary depending on the season but you can check out our current ones here.
All guests are welcome to use the fire pit, though we try to start a community fire every evening after sundown. Please be mindful of raking your fire after use and contributing to our wood and kindling pile.
If it’s legal in Michigan and you’re over 21 you are welcome to respectfully partake in common areas only. Smoking and vaping are only allowed in designated areas outdoors.
ILLEGAL DRUGS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED and we reserve the right to ask anyone to leave the premises for any reason.
We love pets at Hostel SoHa! Just not inside the buildings. Camping and vehicle guests are welcome to bring them on to our property as long as they are cleaned up after. Due to our close proximity to the highway, pets need to be on a leash or tie out and watched at all times.
We are just down the street from a spacious dog park and you can check out this list of dog friendly beaches and businesses in South Haven here.
We currently offer 6-bed, 10-bed, and 12-bed dorm room options. Rest assured, these aren’t just any old bunk bed. We have custom-built pod beds each with their own privacy curtain, outlet, light, shelves, and storage locker.
Because hostels are a social environment for adults, we do not allow anyone under the age of 18 to stay even when accompanied by an adult. South Haven boasts many family-friendly resorts and campgrounds that groups with children can check out.
Hostels are highly social environments best suited for ages 18-40 but we welcome adult travelers of all ages who have a love for hostels and travel! Unfortunately, we do have a no children policy.
We try to have weekly cookouts and potlucks and are working towards offering dinners 1-3 times per week. The good news is our fully-stocked kitchen is open for all guests to use from 7am to 10pm.
Yes! We offer free cold breakfast every morning from 7am to 9am and will soon be offering mid-week hot breakfast options.
First and foremost, we recommend packing light. Large suitcases are difficult to store and open up in hostel rooms. You also want to remember to pack your towel (we rent them for a fee otherwise) and a lock for your locker to store your belongings. Otherwise, pack your normal vacation essentials and bring an open heart and an open mind 🙂
